Students and high-school pupils have walked out of their classrooms and onto the streets to denounce cuts to education spending in debt-burdened Italy.
Silvio Berlusconi’s government has slashed billions from the education budget and those on the sharp end are rallying to say ‘enough is enough’.
Young people have also made their voices heard in Spain, denouncing austerity cutbacks to education there.
Teachers went on strike in Madrid on Tuesday with a further walkout planned for October 20. Two days later, teachers, pupils and parents from all over Spain are set to gather in the capital for a huge rally.
