Palin pulls out of US presidential contention

The hunting, shooting, fishing former governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, will not be seeking the Republican US presidential nomination in 2012.

Her decision not to stand ends months of speculation, disappointing many of her supporters who had been hoping she would regain her popularity. She had garnered that during the 2008 election when she was John McCain’s running mate.

But a series of intrusive media reports about her family appear to have put the former model off her stride.

However, as the darling of the so-called Tea party – the right wing Republicans who are strongly against what they call “big government”, Palin’s support will be valued.

In her position as a contributor on the Fox News Channel the “say it as it is” style of Palin politics, will still be heard.
