One of Europe’s wealthiest aristocrats has proved that you can never be too old for love.
The 85-year-old Duchess of Alba wed her younger lover in Seville on Wednesday.
She danced in a figure-hugging dress after getting hitched to 61-year old civil servant Alfonso Díez.
Her six children were opposed to the union. Their stance soon softened when the duchess promised to split her vast fortune between them, estimated at between 600 million and 3.5 billion euros.
The Duchess of Alba married her first husband in 1947. They were married for 25 years until he died from leukemia.
She walked up the aisle with her second husband, a former priest, in 1978. He died 23 years later.
The duchess, who has more titles than Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, is known for her love of flamenco and bull-fighting.
Alfonso Diez is now a duke and will quit his one 1,500 euro per month job to move into a 16th century Seville palace with his new wife.
