An all Russian face off in a UK court has begun with Chelsea football owner Roman Abramovich being accused of blackmail and intimidation.
His former partner Boris Berezovsky, who is an outspoken Kremlin critic, but now lives in exile in London, claims Abramovich threatened him.
He alleges back in 2001 Abramovich said he would involve the then-Russian president, Vladimir Putin if he did not hand over a major stake in a Russian oil company at a fraction of its value. Putin had already expropriated shares in other companies by then. Abramovich is said to have made over 13 billion euros on a connected deal.
The football owner denies the charges.
