French movie, “Les hommes libres,” – ‘The Free Men’ – brings to the big screen the little known story of Muslim men and women who saved the lives of Jews during the Second World War.

The film focuses on a young Algerian immigrant, Younes, who makes his living on the black market.

He is arrested by the French police and asked to spy on the leaders of the Paris Mosque. They are suspected of saving Jews and resistance fighters from capture by the Nazis supplying them with false identity papers.

The films director hopes his movie will change public conception and show Muslims part in the history of France.
