Released US hikers head home

Two American hikers jailed in Iran for spying have flown home from the Middle East.

Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer were arrested in 2009 close to the border with Iraq and sentenced to eight years in prison.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad agreed to their release last week calling the decision a humanitarian gesture, ahead of his trip to the UN General Assembly in New York.

The two men spent two days in Oman after US officials helped secure their release by posting a 1 million dollar bail.
