Bolivia’s Foreign Minister has been briefly captured by a group of about 1500 indigenous people campaigning against a proposed highway through the Amazon.

David Choquehuanca was surrounded and held by his arms as part of a protest from tribes worried that the new road will destroy their livelihood and traditions.

After being set free, he promised to continue discussions to resolve the conflict surrounding the 300 kilometre highway that will split the Isiboro Secure National Park and nearby indigenous territory.
