Italian prosecutor Rosario Cantelmo has announced that over 150 matches in Italy, Spain and South America are being investigated for alleged match-fixing.

Cantelmo added that the majority of the games were in lower leagues, but that some Serie A matches were also under suspicion.

According to reports, eight people have been arrested so far and Italian police claim they have found evidence of an organised system among current players and sports betting operators to influence the results of hundreds of fixtures.
