They are images that have sent shock-waves through Britain. And now police are investigating whether a child cage fight involving boys as young as eight put the youngsters at risk.
An audience of around 250 adults watched the bout in north west England. Organisers insist the youngsters were in no danger. The manager of the club that hosts the event says the children are not “fighting” but merely “grappling”. The father of one of the boys involved added that “It’s not one bit dangerous, it’s a controlled sport.”
The UK’s minister for culture Jeremy Hunt said “it feels very barbaric.”
