Schalke coach Ralf Rangnick stepped down from his duties at the Veltins Arena on Thursday, citing medical reasons for his decision.

The 53 year old, who said he was suffering from exhaustion, became the second Bundesliga coach to part company with his club this week after Hamburg sacked Michael Oenning on Monday.

Rangnick, who joined Schalke after leaving Hoffenheim in January, led the miners to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals and German Cup success last season.
