Mulberry introduced a seaside holiday element into its range using candy colours for its sporty, practical designs.

Meanwhile Burberry came up with a myriad variations on one its most traditional garments – the trenchcoat.

Welsh-born designer Julien MacDonald fused old and new and unveiled a taste for the Orient, all inspired he says by the luxury boats in Monte Carlo, Cannes and St Tropez.

Such luxury is reflected in the prices. MacDonald’s designs sell for hundreds of dollars. He says he now has his eyes fixed on China.
