Ikea threatened with 'bombing' blackmail

Swedish furniture store Ikea is at the centre of an extortion campaign.

The company has been sent a letter and told to pay six million euros or bombs will be planted in Ikea stores.

Police have released a security video as part of the inquiry. They are working on the theory that a criminal gang is behind the demand. The threat is being taken seriously.

A series of explosive devices of varying strengths has already gone off at five Ikea stores across Europe since the end of May.

The ultimatum expired this past Friday. Security has been tightened at all Ikea stores. It is not known if the company plans to pay the money.
