Hundreds have gathered in New York to show their support for a Palestinian state.
This a week before Palestinian leaders are due to call for full UN membership at the UN General Assembly.
The move is opposed by the likes of the US and the EU, but the Palestinians say they are determined.
One protester said: “I don’t think they are going to get it, but I definitely think they should keep trying to, and eventually, hopefully, it will happen.”
A woman said: “Time is with the Palestinians. There is no question. History has taught us that people do get justice. It is going to be a long process. It will not happen tomorrow, but it will happen. I have every faith. I may not see it in my lifetime, but it will be.”
The General Assembly is likely to vote in favour of the Palestinian statehood bid, but the US has said it will veto full membership at the Security Council.
American and EU diplomats are still hoping to persuade the Palestinians to drop the resolution, in favour of a compromise.
