A stark warning from the EU Commission that growth in the second half of the year will grind to a “standstill”.
The commission’s prediction comes in its Autumn economic forecast. Analysts say it will send tremors around European capitals as the sense of crisis grows.
It is predicted there will be a growth of just 0.2 per cent across the EU.
In its forecast for individual member states the UK is expected to do better than France and Germany.
