Canada needed a late try from winger Phil Mackenzie to secure a thrilling World Cup win over Tonga at the Northland Events Centre on Wednesday.

In group B, Scotland downed Georgia 15-6 thanks to four penalties and a drop goal from Fly-half Dan Parks.

Tonga dominated the early exchanges with some powerful running but it wasn’t to be for Isitolo Maka’s men who finally lost 25-20.

In group D, winger Alesana Tuilagi scored three tries as Samoa defeated Namibia 49-12 giving Fuimaono Tafua’s men a major boost ahead of their game against Wales on Sunday.
