Pressure from Arabs on Syrian leader

world news

Arab League countries are calling for immediate change in Syria to end the violence, after months of a deadly government crackdown on protestors opposed to President Bashar al-Assad.

At a meeting in Cairo the League agreed to send a fact-finding mission to Syria to investigate reforms agreed by Assad at a previous meeting a week ago.

The Arab League’s president told reporters that they are demanding “the assurance of a complete national dialogue that guarantees the participation of all Syrian factions, in order for a process of change that is needed to meet the aspirations of the Syrian people. Also a complete and immediate end to the shooting and all forms of violence.”
