Family, friends and fans have gathered to bid farewell to the Lokomotive Yaroslavl players and staff who died in Wednesday’s plane crash.

The popular Russian ice hockey team were wiped out when an ageing Yak-42 crashed on take off, all but two of the 45 on board were killed.

The crashed prompted the Kremlin to order an overhaul of the Russian aviation industry, which has been hit by a number of deadly accidents this year.

The victims are due to be buried later.

At Prague airport the three Czech players to have lost their lives were returned home they will be reunited with their families before the funerals go ahead next week.
