The head of Libya’s National Transitional Council warned his forces on Thursday that the war against pro-Gaddafi troops was not over.
Mahmoud Jibril hailed a great victory following the seizure of Tripoli but called on his allies not to start “political games.”
“We cannot forget while we are busy making arrangements in the capital that the liberation battle is not over yet,” said Jibril.
“Cities in the south after still under siege by the former regime while other cities like Sirte and Bani Walid are not decided yet.”
Forces belonging to the new interim government have been preparing their advance on Bani Walid, a desert town south of the capital, where a hard core of Muammar Gaddafi’s supporters have been holding out.
The new rulers agreed to wait until Saturday to allow negotiated surrenders from the former regime’s loyalists before launching their attack.
