Around a thousand protesters partly demolished a barrier surrounding the Israeli embassy in Cairo.
Demonstrators used hammers and metal posts to destroy the wall, which was erected recently following an embarrassing security breach, when a protester climbed the mission building and removed an Israeli flag.
Egyptian forces looked on as the groups tore down the graffiti-strewn wall by the entrance to the embassy.
One commentator told the Reuters news agency that the action showed the sheer anger and frustration young Egyptian revolutionaries felt towards Israel.
The incident follows last month’s killing by Israeli troops of five Egyptian border guards in Sinai.
