Gaddafi issues more messages for loyalists on Syrian TV

Deposed Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi is telling his supporters that NATO will eventually be defeated. He has also urged loyalists in Bani Walid to keep on fighting. The new voice recordings aired on Syrian channel Arrai TV – the only station in recent days to which Gaddafi’s been speaking.

He also denies that he has fled to Niger, as the interim government says his son Saif al-Islam has been spotted in Bani Walid.

NTC Chief Negotiator Abdullah Kinshil said: “Saif may have returned to the city. There were sightings of him there yesterday. There may also be another key figure, possibly Gaddafi’s spokesman Moussa Ibrahim.”

The Gaddafi stronghold of Bani Walid continues to hold out, despite a deadline of September 10 to lay down their arms issued by the National Transitional council.

It is thought Gaddafi may be in Bani Walid, though his whereabouts are still unknown. Meanwhile, the interim government has sent more troops to the outskirts of the city in case violence breaks out.
