In Libya, anti-Gaddafi fighters are readyring for an all-out assault on Bani Walid. A council of elders has failed to persuade residents to let the interim council troops enter the town, which has long been loyal to the ousted leader.
A spokesman for the interim council fighters said two options remained – surrender, or the taking of
the town by force.
Bani Walid has refused to surrender to National Transitional Council, giving rise to expectations of another bout of fighting.
The town is one of the last remaining pockets of pro-Gaddafi resistance to the uprising that drove the veteran leader out of Tripoli last month.
