In Germany a runaway cow that has made front page news has been found safe and well.
Yvonne escaped three months ago and went roaming in the Bavarian forests, sparking a huge search. She was labelled a public danger after a near-collision with a police car.
Eventually she got bored and jumped into a field to join other cows near the Austrian border. She has been positively identified by her ear tag.
Yvonne became known as “the cow who wants to be a deer” in the extensive media coverage in Germany and around the world.
A 10.000 euro reward was even posted and there were attempts to lure her from the forest near the Bavarian town of Muehldorf with a bull and other family members.
With the escapade the 700 kilo animal has avoided ending up as beef. She was due to be slaughtered, but because of the publicity was bought from her farmer owners by Aiderbichl Manor, an Austrian animal sanctuary, where she will spend the rest of her days.
