Libyan television has broadcast a speech, said to be by Muammar Gaddafi, in which he vows never to surrender.

The former Libyan leader says the towns of Sirte and Bani Walid are well armed to defend themselves.

He described the opposition forces as a “bunch of gangsters” with a limited appetite for a fight and urged his supporters to keep up their resistance, calling for a long battle.

The agents of colonialism will fail, he added.
