Only a few days before Germany face Austria in
their Euro 2012 qualifier, a book by Bayern Munich defender Philipp Lahm in which he sharply criticises past coaches and players has angered German football officials.
‘‘I don’t think this will have an impact on Friday’s game but we still need to have a word with Philipp about some of the things he said. We’ll then have to sit down with the rest of the squad to clear the air.’‘ said Germany assistant coach Oliver Bierhoff.
Lahm has since apologised for some of his comments and Germany’s national football organisation has indicated that he will remain captain.
Die Manschaft host Austria on Friday.
