Al Qaeda's number two 'killed in Pakistan'

Al Qaeda’s new second-in-command Atiyah abd al- Rahman has been killed in Pakistan, according to American officials.

It would deal another blow to the group, still reeling from the death of its leader Osama bin Laden in a US raid in Pakistan in May.

Reports suggest Rahman, a Libyan national, was killed by an unmanned US drone in the northwestern region of Waziristan earlier this week.
