Soldiers loyal to Colonel Gaddafi have attacked aircraft at Tripoli’s International Airport before making off.
A euronews team in the city filmed one plane that had been burned out.
Destruction came to the airport in the south of the capital on a day which, by Tripoli’s standards recently, had been relatively calm.
A commander in charge of keeping the airport in rebel hands claimed the pro-government forces launched their attack from a location 15 kilometres away. Despite the bombardment, he said the airport and its surrounding territory remained under rebel control.
