1.1 million euros for Gaddafi - dead or alive

A Benghazi businessman has offered the equivalent of a 1.1 million euro reward for the capture of Muammar Gaddafi.

The rebel National Transitional Council has also offered an amnesty to anyone within the Libyan leader’s “inner circle” who captures or kills him.

The NTC has said it would prefer to seize Gaddafi alive so that he can be put on trial but with the realisation that he is not likely to give up easily, the council says it wants Gaddafi loyalists to realise the fight is over to avoid further bloodshed.

While Gaddafi’s whereabouts are unknown many believe he may have fled to his home city of Sirte possibly to rally support for a stand against opposition forces.

In his latest broadcast, he claimed to have been on the streets of Tripoli.

Rumours that he has already left Libya are being given less credence in international circles.
