Sutton shines in Orihuela

Australia’s Chris Sutton produced a superb display to claim stage two of the Tour of Spain in Orihuela on Sunday.

The Team Sky rider bounced back from his team’s disappointing performance on the opening day and latched onto Vicente Reynes’ wheel on the uphill approach as the duo powered away from the chasing pack.

With only a few kilometres to go, The 26 year old pulled clear of the Omega Pharma-Lotto man and timed his sprint perfectly to take the biggest win of his career.

Monday’s third stage is a 164 km trek from Petrer to Totana.
