Prosecutors could be poised to drop a hotel maid’s sexual assault case against ex-IMF boss Dominique Strauss-Kahn, according to US press reports.
The New York Times says Nafissatou Diallo has been called to a meeting on Monday by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.‘s office. That is the eve of the next scheduled court hearing.
Her lawyer Kenneth Thompson is quoted as saying he thinks it indicates the case against Strauss-Kahn will be dismissed or some charges will be dropped.
The 62-year-old has pleaded not guilty. But Diallo last week filed a civil claim against Strauss-Kahn, once seen as a key contender for next year’s presidential election in France.
