Twelve people have been killed in a plane crash in the far north of Canada on Saturday. There are three survivors.

The aircraft came down just over a mile from the airport at Resolute Bay in the Arctic region, one of Canada’s most northerly communities.

The Boeing 737-200 is operated by First Air, who fly to some of the country’s most remote areas. It had taken off from the capital of the Northwest Territories, Yellowknife.
