Israel faces Palestinian and Egyptian anger

The renewed violence between Israel and Palestinian militants shows no sign of stopping.

The Israeli town of Beer’sheva was hit by rockets on Saturday. One person is dead and at least seven others have been injured, one critically. Palestinians are responding to Israeli airstrikes on Gaza over the last couple of days.

The flare-up began with an attack on vehicles on a road near Eilat on Thursday which killed eight Israelis including a soldier.

Israel is also having to deal with growing anger in Egypt. The new military administration there has recalled its envoy because of the deaths of five Egyptian security personnel during Israeli attacks. Egypt says Israel’s pursuit of suspects across the border is a breach of the 1979 peace treaty.

Israel says it is investigating the incident.
