Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip have been condemned by the Arab League. But, as an emergency meeting of the body urged the UN to take action, Israel was continuing its air strikes.
A 12-year-old boy is reported seriously hurt in northern Gaza. Medical sources say air raids in the territory since the latest wave of violence began have killed at least 15 people.
The Israeli onslaught comes as it faces a fresh barrage of rockets from Gaza. At least two, apparently fired in error from the enclave, landed at Rafah in Egypt.
Amid the latest confrontations, Palestinian officials say dozens of Hamas members have now been arrested by Israel in the West Bank.
No new casualties have been reported, although
rocket fire on Saturday killed an Israeli man in Beersheba.
Israel is also facing diplomatic strife with Egypt, after five Egyptian security personnel were killed during an Israeli operation.
