world news

Two minibuses have been blown up in western Afghanistan killing at least 20 people and wounding 12 more.

It happened in Herat province. Officials say it appeared that a roadside device — possibly a landmine — was detonated as the vehicles passed by.

A spokesman for the governor said four people were wounded in a separate blast in the same area.

And a suicide bomber blew himself up at a NATO base at Gardez south of Kabul killing two Afghan guards.
