Deadly blast in south east Turkey

world news

| |

Eight Turkish soldiers have been killed in a suspected bomb explosion in the south east of the country, according to security service sources.

It happened in Hakkari province close to the border with Iraq. Nine other soldiers have been wounded.

The same security sources believe the blast was the work of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, which has been fighting for an independent Kurdish homeland for decades.
