People living on the Channel island of Jersey are in shock following the stabbing deaths of six people.
Police were called to the scene at the island’s capital, St Helier, on Sunday afternoon. They say the victims were from two different families and included two children.
“Supposedly it’s my next door neighbour and their family that have all been killed. It’s an extreme shock,” said one woman.
Another neighbour said he knew some of the victims: “We’d talk to them. My mother would go over and say hello to the children as well. My mother adored the children.”
A 30-year-old man is under arrest in a Jersey hospital after undergoing emergency surgery.
The names of the people killed have not been released and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
