The top seeds have tumbled in the third round of the Toronto Cup. Maria Sharapova had her serve broken five times and admitted she was rusty after time off when she was dumped out in straight sets, 3-6, 5-7.

Her opponent Galina Voskoboeva has become an upset specialist at the tournament. She has beaten three of the top 25 players on route to the quarter finals.

The 26-year-old qualifier is ranked 135 in the world and will not meet Victoria Azarenka ranked 4 in the world in the quarter finals.

Li Na was another casualty. It was the Chinese player’s first match since her shock exit in the second round of Wimbledon. Her opponent, Australian Samantha Stosur, won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
