The ringleader of US soldiers who abused suspected Iraqi insurgents at Baghdad’s Abu Ghraib prison has been freed from jail.

Charles Graner served more than six-and-a half year of a 10-year sentence. The former US Army Reserve specialist was found guilty of leading his six member team in the sexual humiliation of naked prisoners.

Pictures of the acts emerged in 2004, sparking international outrage. Graner claimed he was following orders to soften up prisoners for interrogation.
