Western reaction may be key to Tymoshenko's release

A Ukrainian political analysts has told euronews that the release of Ukraine’s former prime minister may depend on international reaction.
Yulia Tymoshenko was jailed on Friday after a judge ruled that she’d been systematically disrupting court proceedings during her trial on abuse of office charges.

Volodymyr Fesenko told euronews that: “the future of Yulia Tymoshenko rests on what Western leaders will say, if their reaction will be strong, she will probably be released – right now or after her sentence.” “If there’s a weak reaction she could stay in prison,” he added.

Tymoshenko, who twice served as prime minister between 2005 and 2010, says the case against her is politically motivated and has been fabricated on the orders of Victor Yanukovich, who only narrowly beat her in last year’s presidential election.
