An anonymous far-right blogger cited by the self-confessed killer of 77 people in Norway two weeks ago revealed his identity on Friday.
Anders Behring Breivik quoted Peder Jensen over 100 times in his online diatribe against the European left and its multiculturalism.
Jensen’s blog posts was also highly critical of Islam but he has now sought to distance himself from Breivik in an interview with Oslo’s VG newspaper.
“I have warned my family about this interview, and because of my own safety, I’m now going into hiding,” said the 36-year-old, who went under the pen name ‘Fjordman’.
Jensen said he “wanted to do this interview because my name eventually would have emerged anyway, resulting in a media frenzy. It is also a way for me to clear my name.”
In the interview, he said Breivik tried to contact him via email to set up a meeting but that he always declined his invitations.
Jensen complained that his messages hinted at violence and were often rambling, branding Breivik as “boring as a vacuum cleaner salesman.”
Breivik, 32, is still being questioned by police. His lawyer has hinted that his client will plead insanity in court.
