Diego Maradona touched down in Dubai late on Wednesday night ready for his stint as coach of Al Wasl.
The 50-year-old former Argentina boss was welcomed at a VIP’s terminal at the main airport by club officials, who came bearing gifts.
The 1986 world cup winning captain has signed a two year deal to coach the club and is reportedly earning seven million euros for his troubles.
Once Maradona and his girlfriend have settled into their new surroundings the new coach is expected to take his first training session next week.
Maradona, who looked in a relaxed mood after his long flight, has been brought in to help lift the club’s profile and draw more fans and sponsors to the domestic league which begins next month.
