The next court hearing in the attempted rape case of the former IMF chief has been postponed to August 23. Lawyers acting for Dominique Strauss-Kahn said they hoped the charges would be dismissed by then.
The delay is due to the prosecutor needing more time to investigate. However there is speculation the case could be dropped due to concerns over the accuser’s credibility.
Chambermaid Nafissatou Diallo recently broke two months of silence and gave press interviews giving her version of events in a New York hotel.
Diallo claims Strauss-Kahn sexually assaulted her, but the defence team has questioned inconsistencies in her story. Strauss-Kahn denies the allegations.
