Chile’s Alexis Sanchez arrived in Barcelona on Monday to begin his career with the Spanish and European Champions.
The 22 year old, who signed a five-year contract at Camp Nou after the Catalans agreed to pay Udinese a transfer fee that could total 37.5 million euros, told journalists he had moved here to learn from the best.
Alexis Sanchez: ‘‘When I was growing up, all the kids wanted to play for Barcelona because it’s the best team in the world. We all have a lot to learn from the likes of Leo Messi and Xavi and I just want to help Barca win more titles.’‘
Voted best player in Serie A last season, Sanchez helped Chile reach the quarter-finals at the Copa America.
He will wear Barcelona’s Number 9 shirt after it was left free by Spain Under-21 forward Bojan, who joined AS Roma last week.
