Emma Moffat wins Hamburg triathlon

world news

Australia’s Emma Moffatt produced yet another flawless run to claim the Hamburg triathlon on Sunday.

The World Champion, whose last series win was at the Grand Final in 2009, outclassed compatriots Emma Jackson and Emma Snowsill to clinch a hard fought victory.

Out of the water and onto the bikes, Moffat held a clear lead but her rivals weren’t far behind.

Two packs then formed with the main one containing Switzerland’s Nicola Spirig, Barbara Riveros Diaz of Chile, New Zealand’s Andrea Hewitt, Snowsill, Jackson and Moffat.

When the time came for the final run-in towards the finish line, the three Emmas stepped it up a gear before Moffat eventually pulled away with only five kilometres to go.

The 26 year old then kept her composure to hold onto the lead and complete the race in 1 hour, 53.37 seconds.
