Stage 14 of the Tour de France, a day of suffering in the Pyrenees, with six big climbs and the prospect that the main contenders would show their hand.

It was not to be, the big hitters rode together launching staccato attacks with no one willing or able to land a decisive blow.

The Frenchman Sandy Casar led from the front but was chased down by the Belgian Jelle Vanendert who went on to win the high mountain stage and the mountain jersey.

The ride of the day went to Frenchman Thomas Voeckler who defended the yellow jersey beyond all expectations and never looked liked losing it.

Results from stage 14 the Belgian Jelle Vanendert wins the stage from Samuel Sanchez with Andy Schleck in third.

Thomas Voeckler in yellow and will remain so as stage 15 is a flat sprint followed by the second rest day.
