Thousands stranded due to Air Algerie strike

world news

Angry scuffles have broken out at Orly Airport in Paris.

A strike by cabin crew from Air Algerie means scores of flights have been cancelled.

The French transport minister says thousands have been stranded across the country.

It is holiday time and flights between France and Algeria are packed. Many are travelling with young children.

It is a similar story in Marseille. Here, at least, plans have been made to get people to Algeria by sea instead.

The strikers are demanding a pay rise of 106 percent. The company has agreed to 20 percent for all employees.
