In Paris, hundreds of angry passengers have spent the night in Orly Airport. Scores of flights have been cancelled because of a strike by Air Algerie cabin crew. It is holiday time and flights between France and Algeria are packed. Many are travelling with young children.

It was the same scene at Marseille. A system to transfer people to Algeria by sea has been put in place there.

The strikers want a pay rise of 106 percent. The company has agreed to 20 percent for all employees.
