Fenerbahce chairman arrested

The chairman of Turkish football champions Fenerbahce has been rearrested in an investigation into alleged match-fixing.

Aziz Yildirim fell ill while being questioned into his role in the affair, and went to hospital on Saturday. On leaving the hospital he was detained again.

In total over 60 people have been detained and 25 arrested since last week. The results of 19 matches are thought to be suspect. Fenerbache won their record 18th league title in June, but the inquiry may put their participation in the upcoming Champion’s League into doubt.
