The Atlantis has docked at the International Space Station, delivering a last batch of supplies on the final space shuttle mission.

There was a warm welcome on the ISS for Commander Chris Ferguson and his three crew members as they came aboard.

After three decades of service, the shuttle programme is being closed in a move that will save NASA billions of euros a year.

Atlantis took off from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida on Friday for a 12-day mission.

Some one million spectators gave the shuttle an emotional send off. Even more are expected to be there when it comes back down to earth.
