Tyson Gay the American sprinter will not be on the track again this season. The world 100m silver medallist has been sidelined following surgery on his injured right hip.
It’s believed he will return to normal training in the autumn when the 28-year-old will start his build up to the 2012 London Olympics.
The frequently injured sprinter had hoped to race the world fastest man, Usain Bolt in the headline event of August’s world championship.
The American 100 metres record holder has never won an Olympic medal, it’s hoped the surgery will boost his chances.
