International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge arrived in Durban on Monday for the vote on which city will host the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
The IOC will be choosing from three very promising bids from Annecy, Munich and Pyeongchang and this will be South Korea’s third consecutive attempt after finishing runners up twice. But Rogge wasn’t giving away any clues. “Well I have no official plans to meet with any of the IOC members. Again, I’m here as part of our bidding process and I’m here on behalf of the government to reassure the people and the members of the IOC,” Rogge said.
Despite Pyeongchang being viewed by many as the hot favourites to host the games, Munich’s bid has steadily made ground.
Meanwhile Annecy will be counting on its final presentation to upset the odds after battling several problems compiling its bid.
The International Olympic Committee will announce the winner in Durban on Wednesday.
